a little organic farm & cottages

a little organic farm & cottages is a small, sustainably run family farm nestled along the coastal range, halfway between the Pacific Ocean and Paso Robles along California Central Coast's westside wine route. We utilize organic and biodynamic principles, which focus on soil health and the integration of plants and animals. We are committed to local, sustainable foodsheds.

The farm is minimally dependent on imported materials. Instead we strive to meet our needs from the living dynamics of the farm itself. It is the biodiversity of the farm, organized so the waste of one part of the farm becomes the energy for another, that results in self-renewal and ultimately makes the farm sustainable. Fertility is generated by integrating livestock, utilizing compost, green manure and cover cropping. Disease and insect control are addressed by biodiversity, crop rotation, insectiaries and by maintaining natural ecosystems.

We raise LaMancha dairy goats for hobby milk, farmstead cheese and goat milk soap; pastured, free range heritage breed chickens for farm fresh eggs and fertilization; and bees for pollination and honey. Our farm produces organic, open pollinated heirloom crops such as salad greens, snow peas, kale, radishes, carrots, beets, tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, eggplant, beans, melons, cucumbers, squash as well as culinary and medicinal herbs, flowers and a variety of berries and orchard fruits.

All farm animals are naturally raised. For our herd of dairy goats we provide woodland browsing and pasture grazing as well as fresh herbs and herbal supplements. Our flock of laying hens forage freely on the farm for their fresh organic diet to produce eggs with beautiful orange yolks higher in heart healthy Omega 3s.

Our newly constructed guest cottages are now open for overnight stays. Enjoy the farm goings-on while taking in the beauty of the Central Coast, or simply relax on your private patio while enjoying a glass of your favorite local wine.
