Abbe Hills Farm is a CSA farm serving about 200 families in Mt. Vernon, Lisbon, and the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. We offer a wide variety of vegetables from the beginning of June until Halloween, plus regular twilight tours of the gardens and a farm tour and open house in August. We use a number of low-input and sustainable practices, including compost, cover crops, beneficial insects, and integrated pest management tools to produce tasty, healthy, safe food for our shareholders. We participate with Practical Farmers of Iowa doing on-farm research on sustainable practices nearly every season. We share excess food with soup kitchens and food distribution sites in southeastern Linn County and in Cedar Rapids.

We grow virtually every vegetable that is suited to this climate zone. We generally have plenty of potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, corn, and greens. When we have excess beyond the needs of the CSA, we sell produce directly to consumers at the farm or at farmers markets or donate it to nearby soup kitchens or pantries. We usually have delicious eggs from our pastured layer flock that any farm visitor can purchase.
