Alder, Alnus serrulata and allied species, is a small tree which thrives in wet boggy areas along rivers, in swamps and wet woodlands. The bark is harvested then dried briefly before tincturing along with the cones and catkins. The taste is unique. Though this has not been widely popularized as a medicinal herb there are many applications including support of lymphatic system and pain relieving-specifically headaches. This is a one ounce tincture in organic grain alcohol. A primary first aid plant in my practice.
