Alfalfa is well known as a detoxifier with anti inflammatory properties. It helps to cleanse the liver, relieves urinary and bowel problems, eliminates retained water and improves the appetite and also is useful for Type 2 diabetics , even cancer .Alfalfa has the natural ability to carry intestinal waste out of the body . A cup of alfalfa tea a day may bring relief from rheumatoid arthritis because it is a natural anti inflammatory agent.
Alfalfa is rich in calcium, minerals, magnesium, potassium and beta carotene. It has Vitamins A,B,C,D,E and K. The calcium in this plant is very high.
I used alfalfa when I was pregnant and afterward. I felt that it helped me to have the energy and strength that I needed to take care of the baby as well as the other children. I did not find in any of my medical herb books where alfalfa was dangerous to take while pregnant.
PRECAUTIONS: Alfalfa contains L-canavine, which may aggravate or cause symptoms similar to the disease systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) If you have SLE, DO NOT USE alfalfa.
PRECAUTION: Do NOT give to children who have diabetes or autoimmune disease.
Most of the precaution are with the alfalfa sprouts, but I think I should mention it here.
All MY herbs that I present to the public are grown natural and organically and are air dried with the exception of the peppers, onions, and garlic, which I dehydrate. I grow every herb that I sell here on LH or else I wildcraft it in a safe, non-polluted wooded area nearby me. I have no nonsense approach to herbalism and if you read my blogs, I will guide you through the maze of safe and unsafe herbs to take.
