Alpaca wool is very soft, easy to spin, and the warmest of the animal fibers! It's super soft, non-itchy, and can be worn by those who suffer from wool or lanolin allergies, but enjoy natural fibers.
This listing is for a 4-ounce braid of beautiful alpaca roving from one of our neighbor's huacaya alpacas, an award-winner named El Patron. This is a very lovely, soft, and consistently colored fleece. It has been washed several times in hot water with all natural plant-based soap and processed into this soft and lofty roving. It is a gorgeous silvery gray.
This fleece has been picked through by hand to try to remove foreign matter and debris picked up in the field, but it may have small amounts of VM. It is stored in a smoke- and pet-free environment. It is ready for you to pick, card, spin, or felt! It would also make a lovely photo prop for newborn photography!
* Please keep in mind that my animals are pasture raised and are not covered. I do heavily skirt my fleeces to remove second cuts, debris, and soiled fiber. However, even in washed fleeces, some minor amounts of small VM may make it through the washing process.
