You spend 1/3 of your life asleep, so make sure the quality of that sleep is the best. Our Alpaca Duvet will help you to maintain an even and comfortable temperature all winter, encouraging restful and restorative sleep.
80% alpaca blended with 20% wool encased in an organic pima cotton shell -- all produced in North America by the North American Alpaca Fiber Producers Coop using Certified Sorted (TM) fiber for a top quality duvet .
When we shear our alpacas, I sort the fiber according to length, color and fineness, then ship it to the NAAFP Coop. Different categories of fiber are made into different products. The woolen-length Grade 5 fiber goes into our duvets. See our other listings to find out what we do with the rest of the grades.
As a member of the North American Alpaca Fiber Producers Cooperative, I have all my fiber Certified Sorted (TM) on shearing day before shipping it to be processed. The fiber is sorted by color, length and fineness for a more uniform product, assuring you and me that the fiber is being put to its highest and best use.
Not all alpaca fiber is meant to be made into fine knitting or weaving yarn, just as some fiber is too fine to stand up to years of use in rugs. When fiber is Certified Sorted (TM), farmers realize a higher yield of usable fiber, and that fiber experiences a much lower loss during processing. This is important whether I am having my fiber made into yarn, socks, duvets, or rugs.
