Our remote, high altitude farmstead is surrounded entirely by the White River National Forest, and we are east and upriver 25 miles from Meeker. The pastures are spring fed, with native grasses and wildflowers growing to shoulder height at the peak of summer!
Our secluded valley is home to a lively flock of Icelandic sheep! We chose this unusual breed for their cold climate hardiness, their beautiful, colorful and versatile fleece, tasty milk and gourmet meat. Chefs the world over rave about the mild, sweet Icelandic meat.
This fall we are pleased to offer a few very handsome ram lambs available for breed stock by our AI Kveikur ram, Escher, and an AI Leifur leadersheep ram, Leifurson.
And we will be offering lamb cuts or a whole or half lamb for late fall/early winter! Reserve early~
We also have delicious farm eggs available between April and October. Each dozen comes in a beautiful rainbow of colors! Our chicken flock of varied and unusual breeds free-ranges, foraging in meadow and forest surrounding our farm. Their diet also includes organic whole grains.
Hatching eggs are available seasonally, as well, for our two favorite breeds:
Norwegian Jaerhons, a light-weight, hardy breed that does really well in our mountain climate. Skilled free-rangers, they are also capable of flying short distances. Our Jaerhons lay a good-sized, creamy white egg.
Mille Fleur Cochin Bantams, a fascinating project in the works. Cochins are known for their personable nature. Ours come in a very beautifully marked package!
Please email for photos of these wonderful birds!
We deliver fresh eggs weekly within our local Meeker and upriver/Buford area. Spring 2011! A limited number of started Norwegian Jaerhon youngsters will be available for sale in mid-May.
