The American Native Pecan is one of the nuts selected for the Slow Foods Ark of Taste. It is increasingly endangered as its forest habitats are timbered.
These pecans are about 2/3 the size of a commercial pecan, very sweet, and easy to shell -- the shells are paper-thin. The trees are perfectly adapted to the Midwest, and require little to no care once established.
