The American Native Pecan is one of the nuts selected for the Slow Foods Ark of Taste. It is increasingly endangered as its forest habitats are timbered.
These are true wild pecans. A friend took us to his pecan trees growing in the forest, where to our delight we were able to gather quite a trove of these wonderful nuts. We will plant them in our nut grove next Spring.
These pecans are about 2/3 the size of a commercial pecan, very sweet, and easy to shell -- the shells are paper-thin.
Our garden seeds, yarns, and nuts make perfect gifts in synergy with our shared goals of environmental protection, sustainability, and food security.
