Ananda Dhiira

Located in the beautiful Sierra Foothills near the South Yuba River State Park, Ananda Dhiira is a spiritual center directed by the women yogic ministers of Ananda Marga. These women go by the name Didi, a Sanskrit word that means Respected Sister. A creek flows year round through Ananda Dhiira for more than one mile. Both sides of the creek used to be overgrown by thick walls of invasive Himalayan Blackberry. In 2006, the Didis took on a creek restoration project to restore the eco balance of the land and to preserve natural wildlife habitats. After removing the blackberry plants and other invasive weeds, the Didis planted over 50,000 native grass plants and 400 native trees and shrubs. In recognition of this achievement, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors presented Ananda Dhiira with an award from the Nevada County Resource Conservation District as Conservationist of the Year for 2007.

Ananda Dhiira has an organic garden as well as over 60 fruit trees. We invite volunteers to come and join us through out the year. We also do a form of internship. Classes in Yoga and Meditation is provided regularly. See more details at our website. Welcome to Ananda Dhiira
