Our 2009 harvest was the best we've seen in years. The 55 acres of California Blenheim apricots we dried are excellent in color and stupendous in flavor . These sun dried apricots are a blend of our fancy & slabs and jumbo apricots...they're big, flat, intensely flavored..........soft and moist. They are lightly sulphured, and sun dried....we know you'll say these are the best apricots in the world!
A little FYI here: Grown only in the Santa Clara Valley region, the Blenheim apricot is the best tasting apricot in the world. We are the grower, processor, & packer of 55+acres of the rare & endangered Blenheim apricot. Only 800 acres in the world left. The Gonzales Family has been doing this ih Hollister since 1946. We even planted eight more acres this year. These Blenheim apricots were CCOF Organically Grown, but the rules state "once sulphur dioxide is added to the product, it can no longer be registered & labeled as organic." We produce unsulphured dried apricots also. Grown organically, just not certified as such.
The CotKing makes these fancy-overripe slabs moist & tender. He preserves them using a small amount of sulphur dioxide. This preserves the color & gives them the zip & zing, but not the awful chemical taste you find in store-bought apricots. The CotKing makes the best dried apricots in the world. (Because they're Blenheims and because he's an expert, nobody does it better). Apricots are high in iron and potassium.
The best tasting apricot in the world (and the only one worth buying) is the Blenheim apricot. Our family has been growing the fabulous apricots since 1947 & we're positive there's no better apricot. Apricots are our specialty & ours are the best in the world.
