Livingston's Golden Queen tomato
Livingston's Golden Queen tomato is a pale yellow medium-sized fruit that develops a pink blush on the bottom when ripe. After years of testing, A.W. Livingston introduced the tomato and in 1882 gave it its current name to promote wider circulation, calling it the best flavored tomato in existence. The Golden Queen has a light, fruity aroma and a thin skin. It is meaty with a nice acidity, leaving a little sting on the tip of the tongue and a long lingering finish. It slices very well. This tomato incorporates all the pleasures of a red tomato with a lovely golden color.
We focus on rare varietals grown for flavor, soil health, and sustainability above all else. Many of our crops are recognized by Slow Food USA and are approved on the Ark of Taste. Here at Country Pleasures Farms we grow heirloom tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables chemical free. We continue to build our soil using our grass fed chicken and aged beef manure, kelp, peat, beneficial microbes, compost tea and Garden's Alive products. We have recently relocated to Texas! We will be offering real pastured poultry and eggs, Flowering Baskets, Salsa Pots, Fresh Culinary Herbs, and the occasional fresh produce when we have more than we need for our own family. We don't use pesticides or chemicals on anything grown here. (more...)
