The Delaware Chicken is a dual purpose chicken that produces good meat and eggs. In 1940, George Ellis originally produced this chicken calling it the Indian River Chicken. This almost entirely white bird was once one of the most popular broiler chickens in its area. Starting in the late 1950's, the Cornish Rock cross came to dominate the industry. We produce heritage breed Delaware chickens. Our pastured poultry produce large eggs. Our birds live in the great outdoors without growth hormones or medicated feeds. Although we primarily sell eggs for hatching we always have plenty to go around. We currently have: Chickens: Delawares Hogs: American Guinea Hogs Honey: We also have a hive of honey bees. Itzy Bitzy Farm is a Certified Naturally Grown, bountiful farm thriving on less than 1/4 of an acre. Our hope is to live as self sustaining as possible and share our experiences, successes, failures and knowledge with others who have a similar desire. To this end we offer our produce through a CSA program and also sell plants raised on our farm in our own greenhouse. We specialize in asparagus crowns and sell directly to home gardeners. Our family farm specializes in raising quality GMO-free meats, eggs and vegetables. We raise and breed Large Black, Berkshire, and Tamworth hogs on healthy pasture and mature oak forests. We rotate the hogs to different pastures where we grow feed crops such as rape, rye, and clover. IdleWild farm is also host to seasonal flocks of chickens. From March through November, we raise Freedom Ranger chickens for meat. These birds have access to fresh grass from 10 days old to processing.
