The Silver Fox Rabbit is truly a multi-purposed breed whose genetic make-up has never been divulged. Today it is critically endangered with fewer than fifty annual North American registrations and there is a global population of less than 500. The young are born either solid black or blue and begin to show silvering of their fur at about four weeks. The silvering process takes about four months to complete. The fur is the animal‚??s most attractive and unusual feature.¬† It is extremely dense and 1 1/2 to 2 inches in length. Deep Roots Farm grows vegetables using techniques that promote biodiversity on our farm. We practice an intensive planting rotation to allow plants to support and nurture each other utilizing cover crops that feed the soil and attract beneficial insects. We have a wonderful flock of camelids and sheep that provide us with a wide range of fiber types and colors. On rare occasions we will have young llamas available, but our flock is primarily maintained for their fiber production. Sheep breeds include Finn, Romney, Blue Faced Leicester and a variety of crossbreds that have been selected for their wonderful qualities (including personality!). In camelids we have llamas, alpacas and some alpaca/llama crosses.
We are a family run farm featuring live birds for pets, show, meat and eggs as well as a small goat herd for milk, cheese and soaps. Table birds include: French Muscoy, Goose, Turkey, Chicken, Duck Also available are processed rabbit either whole or parted. Hand made goats milk soaps. Goats milk and goats milk cheese.
Broad River Pastures is a small family farm dedicated to promoting nutrient-dense food and protecting heritage breeds. We focus on education, sustainability, and humane care of animals. We do not use any chemical pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides on the land. We are exploring various farming methods compatible with our values to enrich the soil. We participate in conservation of soil and watershed.
We are a small free range, family farm located in New Egypt, NJ. Our farm has heritage breeds of chickens, ducks and rabbits. Currently the chickens we have are Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Black Austrolorp, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Dominques and Welsummer. Also we have a small flock of Ameraucana for the beautiful blue eggs they lay.
Our duck flock has an array of breeds. We have Silver Appleyard, Welsh Harlquin, Saxony and a few Pekins.
