Boston Marrow squash

Ark of Taste Products > Boston Marrow squash

This variety is originally from Buffalo, New York, where the local Native Americans introduced it to European settlers. The Boston Marrow squash grows well in regions where the growing season is cool and short. The fruit averages from 8-9 pounds, and has a skin as thin as an eggshell with a fine-textured flesh. The taste of the flesh is much richer and more nutritious than that of a pumpkin. The Boston Marrow is used for puddings, and, despite it's oily texture, often eaten raw

Gales Meadow Farm (Gales Creek, OR)
Rene and Anne Berblinger began farming in the Gales Creek Valley in western Washington County in 1999. Our farm, on the northeast side of Gales Creek Road, includes 9 flat acres of wonderful soil, a steep wooded hillside - the west side of Clapshaw Hill - and a riparian area with cottonwoods. We produce more than 200 varieties of great tasting and beautiful vegetables and herbs. Many of our varieties are heirlooms. (more...)
Friends Farm (Williamsburg, PA)
Friends Farm is a small family farm near Altoona and Huntingdon Pa. We use natural and sustainable methods to grow a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, eggs, meats and even honey bees. We have found it unnecessary to become certified organic as we sell everything we grow directly to our customers. We use no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides on our crops, and our animals are raised on pasture using antibiotics only when absolutely necessary. (more...)
Flint Hill Farm (Russellville, MO)
I raise heirloom varieties of vegetable produce using organic and sustainable agricultural practices, and heritage breeds of livestock and poultry in a grass-based system supplemented with non-GMO grains. Vegetable produce, meat, eggs, jellies and pickles are available in season directly from the farm. Organic produce is also available in season at the Lincoln University Farmer's Market on Saturdays starting on May 5th from 9:00 to noon. (more...)
Fields Funny Farm (King William, VA)
We are a very small farm. We plant a little bit more each year. A passion is heritage breeds of poultry and heirloom plants. We are not organic yet but are working toward it. Both of us work full time off the farm so we need appointments for visitors at this time. Hopefully will make this full time for one of us soon! We sell many breeds of chickens, including endangered Buckeyes and Delawares. Also have eggs including our beautiful and delicious "Rainbow" eggs. (more...)
Farm of Plenty at Little Moran (STAPLES, MN)
The Farm of Plenty at Little Moran is a community supported farm that grows organic heirloom vegetables. Heirlooms are seed varieties that are over 100 years old. The flavor and nutrient densities are usually much better than what is available today in the traditional grocery store setting. We are a transitional organic farm and only use sustainable organic practices with zero use of petrochemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. (more...)
