Asgaard Farm and Dairy is a family owned and operated farm that produces farmstead cheeses and other dairy, meat, and poultry products for the local community. The farm is set on 1,500 acres of certified organic fields and second growth forests in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, just outside of the village of AuSable Forks. Grains are grown for flour produced in our local mill and as feed for our animals. We harvest logs for the local sawmill under American Tree Farm Certification.
Asgaard, means "farm of the gods" in Norse mythology, and is the name given this beautiful place by Rockwell Kent, renowned and controversial artist, writer, adventurer, political activist and farmer. Asgaard was established as his home in the early 1900's. We arrived in 1988.
Our specialty is award-winning goat cheeses made from the milk of our boisterous herd of registered Alpine and Nubian goats, in the style of bloomy rinds from the Loire Valley of France, and tommes of the Pyrenees Mountains, as well as feta and a range of soft cheeses flavored with herbs from our own garden.
