Baby's Breath Flowers Baby's breath, also known as gypsophila, is a perennial known for the beautiful tiny white flowers on stems that grow 12 to 18 inches tall. Used in floral arrangements or bouquets, they also make a beautiful addition to flower gardens. Although most people are familiar with the white baby' s breath, other varieties produce lilac and pink blossoms. Baby's breath is suitable for USDA zones 3 to 10.
Plant the baby's breath seeds in early spring. Plant the seeds ¼-inch deep and spaced 1 inch apart. Water gently to settle the soil, being careful not to disturb the seeds. Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Baby's breath will germinate within 10 to 20 days.
