Since 2006 we operated Donahue Family Farm in Gouverneur, NY and in December 2010 we relocated our farm to Pittsfield, Maine. Balfour Farm is a 100 acre, certified organic dairy farm. Our dairy herd is 12 cows. We raise our own replacement heifers and will grow the herd to about 20 cows in the next year or so. Our cattle are primarily Jersey and Normande breeds, with a few Holstein as well. Our focus is to breed for high quality milk for use in our farm creamery. We are very excited that in the spring of 2011 we will begin to bottle our milk(both raw and pasteurized) and make yogurt and cheese. We will be selling our products at local farmers markets, natural food stores and from the farm. Our farm also produces pastured pork and chickens, for meat and eggs. T (more...)
