Bayview Veggies

We are a small two-person, 10 acre farm. We bought the land in August of 2006 and have been nurturing the soil back to good health by planting cover crops and green manures. After years of using natural practices and many truckloads of compost, we've made progress.

Each crop is weeded, thinned and harvested by hand. We currently sell a variety of 5-10 crops at 3 Farmers Markets, and we custom grow for some restaurant trade. In the winter we grow lots of greens, salad mixes, carrots, radishes, turnips etc. In the warmer seasons ( Spring and Fall) we have tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, watermelon, peppers, melon, green beans, and sweet potatoes. All of our product is grown chemical free - we do not use pesticides or herbicides. We grow a lot of herbs and aromatics like parsley, oregano, lemongrass, etc. Our produce is sold at: 1) the Brownsville Farmers' Market which is held every Saturday, October through May. The Market is set up in Linear Park between 6th and 7th Streets and the Museum and Federal Courthouse. The Zoo is next door, as is the Brownsville Art Museum.

2) the Grow'n Growers Market which is held each Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30. This Market is just North of Business 83 at Fireman's Park (201 N. 1st St.) in Mcallen.

3) the South Padre Island Farmers Market, which is held at The Shores, an exclusive development just North of the Convention Center, starts at 11 a.m on Sundays and runs till 1 p.m.

Drop by and see us!!

We grow some unusual varieties and are fairly well plugged in with the local growers. If you need a special product let us know. Small growers like us work best in niche markets.

We accept pre-orders and will hold your order for pick up at market.

We are not certified organic, although our land and our techniques are certifiable. The expense, time and government registration do not appeal here.

Our quantities are limited, the quality is outstanding and the karma is all good! Hope to see you at market!
