It all began in 1948 when our family first started keeping honeybees with Grandpa A.J. Nelson. He was a talented man who was good with his hands often building his own beekeeping equipment, some of which have lasted to this day. He understood that to have a good harvest (whatever the crop) he needed good soil, plenty of rain at the right times, and warm sunny days. Grandpa A.J poured his heart & soul into beekeeping.

Due to technology the world is a lot smaller today than it was in 1948. Over all that time we never forgot the lessons Grandpa A.J taught his family about honeybees that have been past down from generation to generation. We believe that had Grandpa A.J. survived to this day (Past Away 1971) he would have been thrilled to know that three generations later we are still keeping bees.

Beekeeping has changed a lot in the current age, in fact for the first time honeybees have made center stage due to the massive hive losses many beekeepers have suffered. More commonly known for the media term many beekeepers have given up beekeeping, for losing so many of little girls is heart-breaking! We however are in it for the long haul.

Our focus is to provide truly raw gourmet honeys that are a treat worth experiencing. Whatever you set your heart on, Bear Foot Honey Farm takes pride in offering some of the finest high quality raw and creamed honeys, health & beauty aids such as real body bars, non-alcoholic propolis tincture, and amazing lotions that can soften even the driest skin... plus many other gifts from the hives.
