We pasture raise a few delicious beef that we raised outside in the sun, on plenty of grass through rotational grazing. This makes for happy cows, healthy environment, and a lean meat that's delicious and healthy. There's no corn in their diets so they're GMO free too!
The most reasonable size we've come up with has been to split one cow between 8 families. There's no calculations on hanging weight and the butcher is already paid.
What you get is a share of one beef cow. The sizes range a bit, but it's right around 50lbs of meat. In the end, it's of the highest quality. Feeding grass takes a longer time but ends up in a leaner side of beef, more natural than supermarket burgers. The burgers are deliciously lean and don't shrink along with tender steaks and roasts you can feel good about serving up.
The cuts are evenly split between all 8 members so you get a portion of the roasts, burgers, steaks, soup bones, and stew meat evenly as if you bought the whole cow.
Our beef shares don't require a giant freezer and usually will fit into a regular sized home freezer that's been emptied with some strategic stacking.
