Join Big Woods Farm for our 22nd season of providing our members with naturally-grown, freshly-picked produce, all raised right here on our farm. A share includes 18 weekly distributions (8-30 pounds, depending on time of the season) of produce, starting in mid to late June, at four locations: at the farm on Mondays, set-up farmer's market style, or in convenient boxes at Just Food Co-op in Northfield on Mondays, at Valley Natural Foods in Burnsville on Thursdays and in South Minneapolis near Lake Nokomis on Thursdays. The chance to pick-your-own flowers, cherry tomatoes, basil and green beans in season is also part of your share, as is a cache of winter squash picked up at the Fall Harvest Festival.
Two festivals are held each season: a Height-of-the-Summer garlic and tomato cookout; and a Fall Harvest Festival and potluck, when members help pick the winter squash and jack-o-lanterns, and take home a cache for the winter.
Members are welcome to visit the farm most anytime to help with the harvest, work up a sweat in the garden or to simply explore the farm and enjoy the countryside. Our 79-acre farm is located one hour south of Minneapolis, near the maple-basswood forest of Big Woods State Park and the farm fields of Nerstrand, Minn.
