Grow your own birdhouses to attract purple martins, blue birds and other "box" nesting birds or use them for other craft projects like lamps,vases or bowls.
Birdhouse gourds are easiest to grow and require the least amount of growing season (95 days). They need light and well drained soil. The soil should be worked well because the roots of gourds are very shallow. You may add compost , commercial manure and potting soil as amendments.
