Our bison are strictly grass fed! BisonRidge Ranch focuses on natural pastures. Our animals are allowed to graze in roomy pastures on chemical-free grass. We rely on birds and beneficial insects for pest control. We do not give our animals antibiotics or growth hormones assuring you clean, healthful meat.
Research has shown meat from grass-fed bison is a highly nutrient dense food because of the proportion of protein, fat, minerals, and fatty acids to its caloric value. Comparisons to other meat sources have also shown that bison has a greater concentration of iron as well as some of the essential fatty acids necessary for human well being.
Grass-Fed bison meat tastes great! Most people interviewed feel bison is the most flavorful meat they have ever tasted, with a sweet and rich flavor. Bison is naturally flavorful and tender and can be prepared much the same as beef without special handling.
Our meat is processed and packaged at Johnson's Sausage in Rio, Wisconsin, which adheres to the stringent health regulations of the State of Wisconsin, which inspects all of our bison meat. Our bison are humanely harvested.
