Batts are processed here at Kenleigh Acres. Each fleece was washed with a plant based wool wash and picked before carding. The batts were then finished on our carder.
These batts are from our Jacob sheep.
I personally spin from these batts and they are a dream to work with. The resulting yarn is soft and lofty with a lot of character.
Kenleigh Acres is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley. We have a flock of 50 Registered Jacob Sheep - that we raise for breeding stock, fleece/fiber, unique lawn mowers, and natural locker lamb. The Jacob is a rare breed listed by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC). Our lambs are born and raised on Oregon's lush green pastures, the sheep have continuous and unconfined access throughout their lives. Jacob fleeces are light and open, and a delight for handspinners. Due to the spotting, the wool can be spun into a complete spectrum from white through gray/lilac to black.
