(Citrullus vulgaris)
70 days. Open Polinated. Early, delicious, and productive, these melons don't require an army to eat in one sitting. You will not have to clean out your refrigerator to store the left overs! Best of all, they are incredibly early, and are the only watermelon we ever ripened successfully on our North Idaho farm.
Developed by Glenn Drowns when he lived at the base of Blacktail Mountain in Careywood, Idaho. That's where our farm was, so we were happy to find this variety, even though Glenn had moved to Iowa years prior. He maintained the variety for, I think, about 20 years before it enjoyed success, and thank goodness he did!
Widely adapted, it does well for us in Southern Missouri, where the fruits get bigger than they did in Idaho.
Germinated at 98% on 12/1/11
