This is the second blog from the Sheep Farmer at Shady Hill Farms.
We sell our premium lamb and related products (sheep skins, heirloom quality 100% virgin wool blankets) through GreatAmericanLambCompany.com, so check them out there.
We had a great county fair this past week.
What do I mean by a "great fair"?????
Great weather, great crowds, great education and entertainment all based on agriculture. That is a great fair.
I am a 4 H leader and a great fair means great kids doing a great job with their livestock projects and learning great lessons about real life. Our kids raise livestock but we are raising kids, we are building a better tomorrow today by educating and guiding our young people.
Our sheep did well, too.Sheep from our barn were Grand Champion Lamb in the Junior Show, Best Bred in County in Junior Show, Best of Show Ewe in Junior Show, Champion and Reserve Lambs in Open Show, Champion Pen of Two Lambs in Open Show, and Champion Dorset Ewe in Open Show. Our good sheep did well and we like to see them appreciated by the judges.
We are now past Labor Day and will scramble to get ready for Winter!
