Saturday is our annual painting party!
All of our beekeeping woodenware has been put together by Chet (hammer, harmonica, hammer, harmonica) needless to say, it took FOREVER! We enjoy hearing him out in the shop formulating lyrics for "AIG Blues", "Bailout Blues" or, "Democracy Meltdown Blues" to name a few... You would think it would make him hammer FASTER!!!
Anyway, all of the cousins and friends are coming over to paint the hives - however they like (no red, though - makes the bees aggressive) We will be taking lots of pics and will post in the next few weeks. This should be extra fun this year as we are hoping to double the number of bees we manage so, in preparation for such lofty goals, we have an extraordinary amount of hive bodies and supers to be painted! We adults will follow up with the touch up since the kids will invariably have more paint on themselves than the hives! Fun, fun, fun!
Once painted, Chet and I will set in outyards (farms) all ready for the packages of bees we pick up during the first weekend in April! The trees are ready to burst and I can`t wait for some nice Tulip Poplar honey! yum.
Happy Spring!
Andrea
