Good Hope Gardens

Looking for a volunteer(s) 2010 season. Good Hope Gardens is a no-till, organic garden producing a wide variety of veggies, herbs, strawberries and flowers for a small CSA and the local farmer's market. Located in the small town of Hope, Idaho just outside of Sandpoint overlooking majestic Lake Pend Oreille and nestled below the Cabinet Mtns. Easy access to hiking, biking, kayaking in the off hours.

Experience preferred, but will train someone with quick learning and good observation skills. In exchange, there is a private studio apartment available, and of course food from the garden and most staples. May accept a (steady) couple. Prefer someone that is also interested in earning money working in my landscape business on the side. Good work ethic, reliability, and a strong physical aspect are required. Ability to work in varying weather conditions, and to work independently (sometimes alone) is necessary.

As this is a no-till garden, it is particularly labor-intensive at the start of the season (indeed vegetable production is laborious regardless of practice.) The learning process is hands-on, learning by doing, involving a wide range of vegetable crops and flowers. It also involves many hours of tedious and repetitive work. It is no gravy train, so please, only serious inquiries. No pets.
