Our Gardens and Orchards

We have been busy this year with the garden and the rains have been coming more often.  In the northern parts of Louisiana we don't get as much rain as in the south, thank goodness, the gourds rot because of it in the south.

For a while we had a drought situation and the birds and animals were coming in more often to munch, even took out my herb garden, left the Basil after yanking it up.

Had to invest in another Scarecrow Scare Eye sprinkler to try and protect the peach orchard from woodpeckers and other birds; the squash and almost everything else form the deer (they even eat the potato tops).  I cannot figure out what they like about the squash leaves though, and gourd leaves?  All in all, I still love to see them during the day nibbling in the shade, and cleaning up the pears the crows have knocked down.....just don't let them start in on my hibiscus, I believe that would be ... another story!!

For now, The Gourd Lady of Rocky Mount, Louisiana that is...
