Giving up Thanks

Happy Healthy Blessings.

It is Thanksgiving Eve and we are letting home made bread rise by the wood stove.   We are using local grains from Kevin and Melanie's Shakefork Community Farm in Humboldt, Ca. it is awesome!   I've already cooked the New England Pie Pumpkin in prep for tomorrow's  dessert.  There is a small bouquet of white yarrow on the table next to the empty  gravy pot.  We will cook up a 33 pound turkey tomorrow.  It is the only one that remains from our last year flock (this year we did 100 meat chickens instead).  Paul is in making fresh goat cheese for early snacking.  I've made place names using the ornamental gourds we grew this year (what up Martha Stewart).  We did a lot of lumber sorting today out in the barn, it's holiday cleanup around here.  Today we also did some tours of the farm to orientate some shareholders to the winter u-pick system, they seemed pleased.  This is the first Thanksgiving ever that Paul has not spent with his family, they will be missed as my family is missed too, but am sure they are having fun and we send them are blessings and look forward to feasting together at Christmas time.
