Here on Double D Ranch our family is getting ready for company...hospitality country-style! We have invited a couple fat turkeys for dinner *U* and they have been fattening up for months. As a mother and homemaker I am delighted to be able to have a natural turkey on the tabe for my family and guests- a turkey that has been raised with kindness and wholesome food in a wholesome environment. I think they taste better that way too!

I have spent any spare time I have making soaps for Christmas sales as well as gifts for my own family and friends who can't get enough, it seems. I'm thankful (there's that word again" that I can have the pleasure of making soap I love to use myself and be able to proudly offer others.
The goats are still being bred this year. I bought a new buck, with excellent milk lines to improve the herd and I am always amazed at the way the Lord provides for us. I didn't buy one earlier in the season for lack of extra money, and the wait turned out to be an advantage as we got a better buck than I would have dreamed!
We had some very nice kids in the spring, and all were sold this year. Unusual, because we usually end up keeping one or two favorites, but with Doug's mom battling cancer we decided to keep the herd small, and even cull ruthlessly to be able to travel and assist the family this year.
Here's a nice little buck we got this year from Libby, my best and favorite doe. We donated him to a new goat dairy that just started up about an hour away.

Well, we have had another fruiful year, but I'm tired! Settling in for winters by the fire with hot cocoa and good books- especially The Good Book!
