Chickens on pasture.

This weekend we put up the portable poultry netting in the rain. It was a simple process that took a minimum amount of time and made our chickens really happy. They didn't even care if it was drizzling rain, they just roamed around all day and enjoyed their new grass. We will move the fencing as necessary to keep them all on fresh grass all season long. It is electrified to keep out the predators.  Here is a picture of the hens enjoying their new pasture.

Could you describe how you electrified the portable fencing to keep out the predators. And tell me how you got that picture into the blog. I am enjoying your blog. Ted Perry

Hi Ted,
Thanks for the comment on our blog. To answer your question about the fencing...We purchased the fencing from Premiere fence company along with a 110volt charger. The netting is super easy to install as it already has the posts woven into the nets. We opted for the 42" tall netting with double prongs so you can just step on them to push them into the ground. You just attach the charger to the net with a couple of wingnuts and plug it in. We love it as much as the hens do as we can move it before they bare the ground which only takes them a couple of days.
To upload the picture that I took with our digital camera, I first had to put the photo onto our computer and then in the blog section we are able to upload to the Local Harvest site and link it to our blog.
