Local Harvest is one of our favorite website with its well written and informative articles. This past CSA season I would forward the site to our subscribers as part of our education efforts and received positive feedback. I'd encourage other CSA farms to do likewise.
We are a small CSA farm (really small; our farm is only 4 acres and this past year we had 19 subscribers) located 20 miles SW of Olympia, Washington. In the 12 years we have been farming here we have seen our area go from semi-rural to a bedroom community of Olympia. This has brought us neighbors with a broader interest in their general health, interest and concern about where their food comes from and more disposable income making them perfect candidates for our CSA program. In the past our primary sales outlet was our stall at the Olympia Farmers Market. With these demographic changes we are feeling positive about increasing our CSA membership and thereby our income from that source. This will relieve some of the pressure of having a regular stall at the farmers market which I'm sure any fellow farmers out there will agree is a very fatiguing job.
We'd enjoy blogging with other small farmers who are changing their marketing practices.
