Greetings from Golden Farm. We are getting some much needed rain today, so Farmer Sue is spending some time indoors.
Things are real busy here. We are still planting in the garden - all organic seeds. We are making hay - good, natural hay - no chemicals in sight. The animals are wandering around. I woke up this morning to find a chicken roosting on the couch with me!! What a mess!
Yesterday we had Alex's second birthday party on Golden Farm. What fun! The pigs greeted everyone on the way in. We fed the chickens and turkeys, watched the ducks swim in their pool, and hiked to the creek for a swim ourselves. Everyone enjoyed Golden Farm burgers and Route 11 chips. Who knows - maybe one of the little ones will grow up to be a farmer!
The Wayside Inn Farmers' Market is being held again on Saturday mornings, from 8 am to 12:30 pm, at the Wayside Inn in Middletown, Va. Somehow I managed to come home without new ducks, but it was pretty hard. Kyle had the cutest baby ducks and chickens! Stop by for a visit and a pet, some Golden Farm beef, lamb or eggs. We'll bring whatever else is fresh throughout the season.
Or come visit the farm. We love company. Just give a call first.
Hope to see you soon!
