This was the warmest spring I can remember. It's like we jumped from February to June. We were fortunate that there was no last moment frost, so things are looking good going into summer.
The vineyard is looking better for all the pruning, trellising and replanting we are doing. There is also some trunk renewal going on as our St. Vincent grapes are struggling with a fungal infection called phomopsis viticola or dead arm disease. St. Vincent are particularly susceptible to it.
Our latest bottling of Whispering Oaks Red has a very distinct black cherry flavor to it that is really good. I look forward to some ice and lemon lime soda mixed with it when the hotter days of summer arrive. It's great after a game of croquet or while hanging out poolside.
Baker Creek Seed will be hosting their annual Spring Planting Festival May 6th and 7th. Stop in while you are in town and sample some wine for FREE.
