It sounds too early to say Merry Christmas doesn't it? I just
love this time of year though. The leaves change, you get to
see your breath on cold mornings, it's cool enough to wear a
sweater, the wonderful smell (and sound) of rain, the fog
reminds me of all the years I lived on the ocean.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner which means we get to
see people we don't get to see very often. Then the lights
start going up and my favorite day comes, Christmas.
We feel very blessed and thankful this year to be where we
are. We gave up the life in the suburbs almost a year ago
(December '07). And moved in here, built the chicken houses,
bought the chicks, and now we are beginning to sell our eggs
at Whole Foods. It has been an emotional roller coaster but
a thrilling and rewarding ride.
We recently started selling at the new Whole Foods store in
Roseville. That is the only place to find our eggs right now.
We may start selling again from the farm, but probably not
in the near future. It is exciting to see all the little
chicks growing up and developing personalities. When we get
them at one day old, they are completely helpless it seems.
They "graduated" to the pasture when they were four weeks
old. The first few days they wouldn't come out of the
house. They just stood in the door looking out. They are
ten weeks old now and are a treat to watch.Have a great fall, holiday, and Christmas season.
