Hello friends and supporters!
First of all I want to thank everyone who came out to support us last week—we had a lot of fun! Summer is finally here and we are very excited to see what changes are in store for the Laurel Community Farmers’ Market!
The Laurel Community Farmers’ Market is held Saturdays year round, rain or shine from 10am-2pm at 4173 Macarthur Blvd in the parking lot of the Laurel Office Center/Trattoria Laurellinos!
A few announcements this week:
Musician Earl Rivard will be performing for us this week! Earl is a self-proclaimed troubadour, performing some great “guy and his guitar” tunes for us! Check out his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/earljrivard
New Vendors! Help us welcome TWO new vendors to the market this week!
-Bee Healthy Honey will (finally) be selling with us this week! I know a lot of people have been looking forward to this and apologies for the delay; Bee Healthy Honey is quite understaffed and was unable to come out the past few weekends.
-Sunnyside Organic Seedlings (check out their website: http://www.organic.biz/)! Kenji is back to sell amazing plant starts and seedlings just in time for the gardening season! We are very excited to have him back at the market with us, he knows so much about these seedlings!
Our other amazing vendors will also be in attendance this week:
-JP and family of J&P organic farms from Salinas, CA
-David and Joyce from local flower shop, Sudear Flowers
-Local resident and advocate for the farmers’ market Natalie Lynch selling for Biscotti di Bianchi
-Hard working youth and OFC staff making meals for folks at Purple Lawn Café
-Organic bulk food and spices as well as a bunch of food justice information at the OFC info table!
Save the date! Saturday, June 20th the Laurel Community Farmers’ Market will be having extended hours! This is an all day event for us; we will be celebrating the success of the market as well as the GRAND opening of the OFC Food Pantry! Our market will also be one of the venues for the Laurel Summer Solstice festival so come by and check it out!
Last but not least, DJ Daniel Z from last week sent along some great photos to share. Check em out! http://www.domingoyu.com/galleries/our-family-circle-and-oakland-food-connection/
Thank you all for your support and hard work in helping our market grow!
