It's Planning Time!

Winter time brings images of calm times and lots of movies to watch. The crew at Crazy Woman Ranch has been busy checking out our various seed catalogs, purchasing seeds, packaging seeds and making out our wishlists.

Believe it or not, we've found a great deal on non-hybrid seeds at the Dollar Tree: 25 cents per seed package! I was worried they were past their prime, but they are packaged for 2013 and we purchased some of our basic seeds from there.

We're purchasing our onion transplants from Irish Eyes Garden Seeds and a few of our new seed varieties as well. Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds is an excellent place to gather information, and there are the tried and true places to purchase seeds like Burgess and Gurney's.

Crazy Woman Ranch works to use non-hybrid, open-pollinated seeds as much as possible. However, working within a conventional farm there are some varieties we utilize that have higher disease resistance. For example, REBA squash from Irish Eyes is resistant to powdery mildew and we use those seeds. We try to work within our environment with as little impact as possible.

Samantha has also been busy during the winter down time. A new hobby or embroidery has spawned a few beautiful dish towels that are up for sale. Send us a message if you'd like to purchase one of them.
