Hudson Farmers' Market Opens for the Fifteenth Season

The Hudson Farmers' Market opened today for the 15th Year at the Corner of Columbia Street and Sixth Street in Hudson, NY.  We added six new vendors:  Hill-over Health and Fresh (milk), Hawthorne Valley (yogurt, raw sauerkraut and pickles),Oliva Provisions (kale pesto), Hometown Foods (quick frozen and vacuum packed meals with local products), Harmony Hill Gluten Free (dedicated kitchen for gluten free meals), and Sparrowbush Farm (beginning in June with vegetables, meats, and eggs), bringing us to over 30 vendors.  We are delighted at the return oof David Ludtke (Churchtown Gardens) and his delicious baked goods and look forward to the return of Micosta, with their local juices, salads, and ice cream.

Abby Lappen, well-known blueswoman and recording artist, kicked off a beautiful, sunny day with market long musical variety.

It was great to see all of our old customers return and to greet new ones. We were very pleased to have visits from farmers from other markets, like Hawk Dance Farm of Hillsdale and Saugerties Market volunteers Judith Spector and Barry Benepe, well-known co-founder of the NYC Greenmarket!

Next week, the official "grand opening" will be broadcast by peoples' radio WCXG, live from the market site.  Mayor William Hallenbeck and Aide Gene Shetsky will cut the opening ribbon, assisted by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and market co-founder Dr. Norman Posner.

Opening Soon -- Can't Wait!!!

We've had our final "organizational" meeting and we're opening at the corner of Columbia and Sixth, in Hudson, NY, on May 8 with lots of plants and hanging baskets for Mothers' Day.  We'll also have several new vendors, eggs, cheese, and early vegetables.  Can't wait to see our customers again.

We Give Thanks

As we closed the Market on November 21st, after 29 weeks at our current site, we gave thanks for so many things......the Saturday weather, the openness of our site, the sponsorship of the Mayor's office, the faithfulness of our vendors, the cooperation and encouragement of so many Hudson businesses, and of course......our customers old and new.  We look forward to next year!
