Saturday at The Bluegrass Farmers' Market!

What an exciting week it's been for the Bluegrass Farmers' Market! The votes are coming in for America's Favorite Farmers Market, so we know that you appreciate the hard work and dedication of our farmers...thank you. If you haven't voted yet you can go to http://www.farmland.org/vote and type in Blue Grass Farmers' Market. We sure would appreciate your votes.

Next bit of excitement will be happening on June 26th. We're having a cookbook exchange! We know that everyone likes to eat therefore you probably cook! How do we know that? You shop at Lexington's only 100% homegrown/produced farmers market! Must mean that you like to eat good stuff as much as we like to grow, raise, blend or bake it! So, now about the cookbook exchange...it's simple, you bring a cookbook and exchange it for another one. It doesn't matter what size, hardback, soft cover, old , new...just bring one and take a new to you one home with you. We'll even have some freebies, like all sorts of cooking and gardening magazines! It will be a great way to pass on those doubles that you have or maybe one that doesn't interest you. You might find one that you've been looking for or maybe even an older cookbook that is out of print. Mark your calendars and join us for our very first cookbook exchange on June 26th!

Now for the most important and exciting part of the week...the Saturday market and what's going to be available!

Look for Jonathon and his fabulous hanging baskets and bedding plants. He'll also be bringing his homegrown beets, onions, zucchini (first of the season), green beans, broccoli, sugar snap peas, English peas, new potatoes and jams & jellies!

Robert will be loaded down with his wonderful Asian green assortment, cucumbers, rhubarb and raspberries!

Linda can always be counted on for her fantastic baked goods like the chocolate zucchini cake, her crowd favorite pepper jams, hand blend soup mix and plenty of fresh from Mercer County eggs!

Drew and Karin will be on hand with their hand blended herb seasoning, homebaked Herb'n Buns, catnip, lavender sachets and even something special this Saturday. Drew will grilling his wonderful Kick'n Pimento Cheese Sandwiches! Stop by and have a sample or take one home with you!

Vicki will be unloading her truck full of hanging herb baskets, herb plants and some unusual planters loaded with colorful flowers!

Jane will be bringing her fresh from the garden greens like Kale and Swiss chard. And, don't forget her crisp lettuce and sugar snap peas. She'll even have some new red potatoes!

Judy is going to come to the market with the first of the season blueberries! And, she'll also have her wonderful fruit jams and jellies!

John will be returning with his bright red, ripe, homegrown tomatoes! He'll also have more of those great green beans and plenty of farm fresh eggs!

Lauren missed last week but she'll be back with her great ASH free beef products!

We didn't think Ed was going to make it this week but he's had a change of plans and you'll be able to purchase some daylilies, giant elephant ears and all sorts of other unusual plants. Ed is our resident “I grow plants you don't find in stores” person! So if you are looking for something different make sure you stop by and pay him a visit!

Kirby will be traveling from Garrard County with his homegrown onions, radishes, beets and lettuce!

And, who knows who else will turn up...it all depends on what their gardens are producing so we could be in for some surprises!

Don't forget, we now accept

EBT and Debit cards!

Free and convenient parking and no construction or road closures to worry about! We're a farmers market shoppers delight!

Our farmers are also trained and certified in the GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) program!
