High Tunnel

Funding has been awarded for the construction of a high tunnel greenhouse this fall after current crops are harvested and I plan to have it completed by freeze-up. Projected size will be 30' X 70'. It is hoped that this will give me 9 1/2 to 10 months of growing time.

We are currently picking cucmbers, starting peas and potatoes any day now and beets are coming along nicely and some are ready. Corn has started to tassel and stands 6 ft tall. Cabbages are looking real nice. As everything is organic this I have been amazed I have found very few potato bugs this year. Last year I swear I picked thousands by hand. We are using corn gluten as a fertilizer and pre emergent and it works real well, especially around transplants. Have just about made it through the first round of weeding in the seeded rows. Plan on opening for selling next Tuesday 7-13-10.
