The Michiana area has alot of local food choices but you will not find them on the tv or radio. So many people are already buying some of their food locally, as in produced locally. The more people buy locally the more Congress tries to push through legislation that benefits thier constituents. The people are no longer constituents, lobbyists are now the constituents. Lobbyists donate a ton of money to candidates and they expect a payoff when the time comes. That is what we are seeing right now with these ridiculusly long bills. Bills that are infested with requirements and regulations that benefit the BIG food companies and destroy the individuals right to eat what they want and restrict the independent food producer with rinky dink rules. It may be a good sign that this legislation is being pushed and forced down the public's throat. They wouldn't be doing it if they didn't feel threatened. So keep on eating local and keep on sending those calls to Congress urging them to leave the local food economy alone. Every purchase made locally assists the local economy, provides fresh and tasty food and is an all around win win situation. Well, except for the BIG food companies, they do not like it. We do not have to settle for food fascism so keep on truckin' and eat local every chance you get!
