FCG Winter Garden-ings

Winter Gardeners,

In the interim of heat and green-ness maybe you too, crave the creative carvings of gardening. There is a deep seated desire to reach into the soil and discover the wonders that lie there. To participate with the mysterious world that lives there, that gives here. But, we can only wait, pace the rows, at least with our eyes, with our minds and wait. It is a horrible thing. Planning and figuring, calculations and imaginings. But, that is all they really are, when the sun finally takes hold and the earth warms, all that planning, those interior thoughts and schemes dissipate like smoke. Beans land here and there, lettuces fits here but not there and as if by some will and knowledge beyond our own, things settle across the garden, just as they should - to grow once more.

Some of our figuring, scheming and things to keep your fingers near the soil.

New Volunteer Days: Saturdays only, 9-1 (at least for the winter)

Monthly Work days: Beginning end of January, look for additional emails and announcements. We will start off the season reclaiming and re-covering the greenhouse.

Low-income, work-trade CSA: pick-ups beginning in mid-March. See if you or someone you know qualifies.

Garden Talks: to resume at the end of February, look for upcoming announcements with dates and speakers( also if you or someone you know would be a good speaker please pass their contact info along).
