We've been talking about expanding the Valley Flora Farm CSA to include beef & lamb shares, fresh fish shares and possibly wild mushroom shares.
It's ridiculous, but there are no active mushroom buyers within a reasonable driving distance and the pickers are sitting around with mounds of black trumpet chanterelle, matsutaki, regular chanterelle's and all kinds of good local wild mushrooms and no where to sell them.
We also have access to several fishing boats who are interested in selling their fresh local catch direct, and naturally we have lots of lamb and grass fed beef available here in the boonies of the Oregon Coast.
So Zoe (the dirt Diva of VF) and a bunch of us are going to get together and try to plan out how best to match the products with her growing list of enthusiastic CSA members. I think it'll be good for everyone involved if we can do it right.
There is also the issue of how to deliver everything and how to portion out what can be a highly variable set of products. Some weeks are good mushroom picking weeks while others are not. Sometimes you catch fish and sometimes you don't kind of thing.
We'll see how it goes at the December 20th meeting.
