Welcome!

Welcome to our LocalHarvest blog and our first entry. Now to help you get to know our little farm better, let me start by telling you some things about us.

We have a small flock of heritage breed chickens, a mixture of half Wyandottes and half Delawares. The Delawares are the new kids in town and have yet to start laying eggs, but I expect them to start any time now. The Wyandottes are old hens, downright geriatric for chickens at three years old. I expect them to start dying off in the near future, actually. Sad as it is, that's the truth.

We also have two gardens which together make up a medium-sized market garden. The primary garden is currently at the stage of waiting to be ripped out in preparation for the planting of fall crops. The secondary garden currently has a ginormous pumpkin plant taking it over and setting on fruit. The pumpkins should be ready by the end of August or the beginning of September at this rate.

We use only natural fertilizers and pest control methods when necessary.

Well, that's about it for now. Hope to see you again soon.
