Opening Day

Hello to all you local farmers:

The season is upon us. The good earth is ready and waiting for us. Hope all fines you well and ready to get your hands dirty.

The season is here for the Salem Farmers market to open. It will be May 5th at 10:00 am till 2:00 pm. Please come and bring all you have to sell. This year is going to be great.

We have had a lot of really good classes to try and help the farmers. We are willing to work with you to make this work. High tunnels and low tunnel classes went very well. Straw bale class is very good for those who want small but lots.

This year we are going to have classes for the kids. This is one of the ways to get them interested in growing. There will be one a month and must be pre registered for.

We will alos have that great chef Bo (from Salem International) back. He will be doing demos and recipes.

YOU ALL COME ON DOWN!!!!

Thanks

Deaonna

Come season

Well it is soon going to be that time to start turning the soil and planting those seeds. I hope each and everyone is ready to start. I think this year will be a great year for the market. Last year was really good.

We had some young people venture in to selling home made breads. It sounds like they did a great job. They continued to sell through the winter from what I heard.

We really want to this year do more to get people involved. We are planning workshops every month. Free!!! Ha how many times do you hear that.

We will be posting info to the site well in advance to let you know. We will be putting up flyers and advertising also.

This year we hope to have recipes to hand out with every market opening. We are going to have that wonderful Chef back from the college. YEAH Bo. We are going to have food demos of food that is local to the market. If you have not had eggplant, okra, lemon cuke well just give them a try. You might be surprised and the taste that the wonderful chef will be making.

All you bloggers out there. Give me a shout back.

Can't wait to hear from you

Deaonna
