Wayne,s Green House

Hey! It,s Farmer Wayne!  About my greenhouse, While discussing a greenhouse unit during our 2012 season plans for the farm we decided on a medium sized hoop house so I  ordered the materials required to build a 24'x 50' unit, To save a little on the cost a hoop bender was purchased and a bundle of the correct sized tubing. While waiting for the pipe and bender to arrive-, my crazy obsession to design and build bigger and better things kicked in. So I sat down and drew a couple of sketches. As it turns out my drawings were what is called a gutter connect structure or, expansion mansion. 3 bays each 20'x60'using wood framing on the lower section and metal for the roof sections, Oh! Oh! Time to feed the critters now and continue on the construction. so I;ll be back to blog another time, Stay connected!

                                                          Farmer Wayne,

Hello! From Blackberry Creek Farm!

Hello! From "Farmer Wayne"and Blackberry Creek Farm! As you drive west of hwy 47 on Finley or Scott Rd in Sugar Grove Illinois you have probably noticed something is happening at the 1850 Conrad Family Farm. Well, You will be pleased to know there are great things in store for local and surrounding communities..

The Farm is gradually being transformed to sustainable agriculture focusing on naturally organic vegetable production. Featuring farming methods both modern and age old practices used century's ago. We have been very hard at work on all the barns, buildings and the two story farm house built in 1850,

Well! Here we are- our first winter at Blackberry Creek Farm. So far- mother nature has worked fairly  with us as we make preparations here on the farm for the planting season rapidly approaching, Although the late season ground moisture kept us from some tilling operations it allowed us to spend some time renovating some of our livestock barn area to welcome some of our critters to the farm,  We now have Benny and June our potbelly pigs- And June just gave birth to eight piglets-  Then we have Gracie and Oreo, They are pigmy goats,Our new website will have pics posted soon,  As you have probably noticed our first greenhouse units have begun construction on the farm and are scheduled for completion in March of 2012,

Well it's been several weeks since my last entry, Junes babies are growing fast and are eating hard food now and entertaining every one that visits the barn, My friend Eric and myself are making great progress on the greenhouse construction thanks to Mother Nature and the farm gods for blessing us with this incredibly warm winter,
