Stock up for Thanksgiving this Saturday at the Williamsburg Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  There will be Holiday decorations and gifts, oysters, bison, grass-fed beef, chicken, mushrooms, fresh greens, cheeses, Greek baked goods, artisan chocolate, pies and peanuts available for purchase.  Kindred Spirits will perform 9 am – 11 am. There will be Apple Tasting at the chefs tent at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.  The next markets will be November 26 and December 10.

Apple Tasting at the Market
 
Oysters, bison, grass-fed beef, mushrooms, cut flowers, Greek baked goods, artisan chocolate, and peanuts are all available for purchase at the Williamsburg Farmers Market.  Blush will perform from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., Roslyn Taylor will conduct an apple tasting  at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 and 10:30 am. and the  Master Gardeners will be present to answer gardening questions.  The first Holiday market is November 19.

Jim Gay of Colonial Williamsburg Foodways will be at the Chefs Tent; Flute Frenzy will perform; and Master Gardeners will discuss compost.  Shop for pumpkins, fall greens, herb plants, bison, beef, artisan chocolate, pasta and apples.  The Williamsburg Farmers Market is open Saturdays through October 29.

 
 

This Weekend at the Williamsburg Farmers Market

Sentara Regional Medical Center’s Chef Patrick Day will be at the Chefs Tent, Orion will play Celtic music and Riverside Health System will exhibit their cancer and purse project.  Shop for pumpkins, kale, free-range chicken, pork, bread, cheeses and apples.  Knife sharpening available.  The Williamsburg Farmers Market is open through October 29.

 
 

The Williamsburg Farmers Market is Open and Relocated this Weekend!

The Williamsburg Farmers Market will set up on the east side of Henry Street in front of the Book Store. Shop before attending An Occasion for the Arts with over 30 watermen, bakers and producers of meats, seafood, fall vegetables, ethnic foods, cheeses and apples.  Full season open through October 29.

This Century Art Gallery will have artists painting Plein Air in the Market as part of Williamsburg’s Art Month. Berret’s Seafood Restaurant will be at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., The Master Gardeners will attend, and Ron Fetner will perform 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.. Peaches, apples, blackberries, goat meat, herb plants and a knife sharpener are among the many products and services available at the Williamsburg Farmers MarketA Thyme to Plant Herb Farm will be at the Chef Tent, Two Girls and a Hammer will host a Ball Canning demonstration from 9-11:00 a.m., and  Kindred Spirits, a vocal duo, will sing.

 
 

Folk Festival Winner Ron Fetner to Play Live at the Williamsburg Farmers Market

Fresh, local pumpkins, cut flowers, apples, bison, peanuts, fish, oysters, baked goods and beef are perfect for fall cooking and decorating. Ron Fetner, contemporary folk singer, songwriter and winner of the Kerrville Folk Festival, will perform from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Master Gardeners will man their Q & A tent. Only two regular season markets remain.  Holiday markets will be on November 20, 27 and December 11.

 
 

Children's Day at the Williamsburg Farmers Market - October 16, 2010

Children’s Day

Children’s Day will feature free activities for kids of all ages at the Williamsburg Farmers Market.  The Chef Tent demonstration will be coordinated by SHIP (School Health Initiative Program).  The recipe of the day will be Marinated Black Bean Salad. 

The Williamsburg Botanical Garden and Girl Scout Troop 1482 will assist children with making corn husk dolls. 

The Williamsburg Youth Orchestra will play from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

Face painting by Bubbles the Clown will be available. 

Pumpkins, apples, apple cider, peanuts, fish, seafood, baked goods, fresh fall produce, beef and more are sure to please all ages. 

Food purchased at the Market can be donated to a local food kitchen. 

Harvest baskets will be available for purchase at the Market Tent.

The Williamsburg Farmers Market will move to the east side of Henry St. in front of the Bookstore for the kickoff of An Occasion for the ArtsThirty-five vendors will have pumpkins, apples, peanuts, fish, baked goods, beef and more.  Exhibitors include Colonial Williamsburg Good Neighbors and Alzheimer’s Association Memory WalkBrian & Mary Lewis will play live music from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Satisfy your sweet tooth!  Stop by Simply Southern Pies for a special sale on 9” Apple Toffee Crumb pies or present your William & Mary student ID, and receive $1 off any 6” pie.   Betsy’s Baked Goods will have pumpkin oatmeal cookies and more goodies.

Fresh local pumpkins, cut and dried flowers, apples, bison and an abundance of fall harvest products will be available at the Williamsburg Farmers Market this Saturday.  Dudley’s Farmhouse Grille will be cooking at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Amazing Buttercup Band will play from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Composting will be the theme of the Master Gardeners’ exhibit.

 
 

Apple Waldorf Salad

Chef Jean Monaco of Martin’s demonstrated this recipe at the Williamsburg Farmers Market Chef Tent on September 11, 2010.  Serves 6.

   SALAD:

Gala Apples (or any other fall variety), largely diced

½

lb. red grapes

¼

cup celery, diced

½

cup Nature’s Promise raisins

½

cup Nature’s Promise dried cranberries

DRESSING:

2

cups Vegenaise mayonnaise

½

cup Nature’s Promise honey

1

tsp. coriander

1

tsp. cardamom

½

tsp. cinnamon

Chef’s Note: Vegenaise mayonnaise is dairy-free, making this recipe vegan. This recipe can also be made with regular mayonnaise or yogurt.

  1. Combine all dressing ingredients.
  2. Add the first 5 ingredients and chill until ready to serve.
