Children's Day at the Market

This weekend at the Williamsburg Farmers Market is for the children. Make sure to bring your comera as there will be a scavenger hunt and events for children.  WJCC SHIP (School Health Initiative Program) will be cooking up some fun at the Chefs Tent and demonstrating Zumba. Macaroni Kid Williamsburg will also attend with more fun activities.  Fall produce, pork, cut flowers, and peanuts are all available for purchase. Arden Clark will play fiddle music. The City of Williamsburg will have a recycling booth and the Master Naturalists will provide an exhibit.  Full season open through October 29.

It's the peak season for produce, fruit, cheese, bread, honey, seafood, and pies at the Williamsburg Farmers MarketBall Canning demo by Two Girls and a Hammer will be at the Chefs Tent, the Heritage Humane Society will attend and Stephen Moore will perform 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Cheese, bison, peanuts, fruit, organic produce and baked goods are among the items for sale by over 35 local farmers and producers at the Williamsburg Farmers Market.  Mike Hutt of The Virginia Marine Products Board will be at Chef Tent, the Master Gardeners will attend discussing drought-tolerant plants and guitarist Stephen Christoff will perform from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

May is peak season for strawberries, peonies, soft shell crabs, and all spring produce at the Williamsburg Farmers MarketMaster Gardeners and WCAN will have exhibits. Williamsburg Christian Academy will entertain from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Executive Chef Denis Callinan of the College of William & Mary will be at the Chef Tent with cooking demonstrations and free samples at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

 
 

Holiday Market and Final Market of 2010 at Williamsburg Farmers Market in Merchants Square

The year-end Holiday Market at the Williamsburg Farmers Market will be held on December 11.  Reveille, William & Mary acappella singers, will entertain with festive holiday music.  Look for special holiday vendors with cut trees, branches, berries, doorway decorations, wreaths, gingerbread house kits, baked goods and gift items. All products are natural and produced, grown or harvested locally by the vendors.  Seafood, meats, cheese, and winter produce will also be available. The Market will overflow to both sides of Henry Street to accommodate over 35 guest and regular vendors.

 
 

Williamsburg Farmers Market Holiday Market

Saturday, November 27

8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Over 30 vendors offer wreaths, trees, berries, forced bulbs, baked goods products for gift giving, produce, meat, seafood and more at this special Holiday Market at the Williamsburg Farmers Market in Merchants Square.  So’lach will play holiday favorites from 9:00 – 11:00.  The final market of the season will be held on December 11.

 
 

First Holiday Market of 2010 at Williamsburg Farmers Market in Merchants Square

8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Over 35 vendors will be in attendance at the first Holiday Market of the season offering fall produce, baked goods, meat, seafood, holiday decorations, bulbs, gifts and more.  Be sure to get some fresh pumpkin butter, apple butter and other items for your holiday feasts.  Reveille sings a cappella from 9:00 to 11:00.

Holiday Markets will be held November 20, 27 and December 11.

 
 

Children's Day at the Williamsburg Farmers Market - October 16, 2010

7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Children’s Day

Children’s Day will feature free activities for kids of all ages at the Williamsburg Farmers Market.  The Chef Tent demonstration will be coordinated by SHIP (School Health Initiative Program).  The recipe of the day will be Marinated Black Bean Salad. 

The Williamsburg Botanical Garden and Girl Scout Troop 1482 will assist children with making corn husk dolls. 

The Williamsburg Youth Orchestra will play from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

Face painting by Bubbles the Clown will be available. 

Pumpkins, apples, apple cider, peanuts, fish, seafood, baked goods, fresh fall produce, beef and more are sure to please all ages. 

Food purchased at the Market can be donated to a local food kitchen. 

Harvest baskets will be available for purchase at the Market Tent.

 
 

September 18, 2010 Market Calendar

It’s time for apples, apple cider, pumpkins and other fall produce.  Also find locally grown or produced cut flowers, seafood, soaps, honey, meats and more. Berret's Seafood Restaurant's Chef David McClure will be cooking at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Tim Seaman will play from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Stop by the Master Naturalists’ exhibit.  The theme will be migration.

Apples, peaches and berries are highlights of the market at this time of the season along with an abundance of fresh vegetables.  Two Girls And A Hammer will demonstrate making peach sauce at the Chefs Tent.  Stephen Christoff will perform his musical stylings ranging from Brazilian jazz to blues from 9:00 to 11:00 and This Century Gallery will have artists on site.

The Fat Canary will be at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 and 10:30.  There will be live music performed by Blush from 9:00 – 11:00.  The Master Gardeners will be at their tent to answer gardening questions.  This week's topic is Incredible Edibles - Vegetables in Containers.  Apples, peaches, berries and melons will be in abundance along with many other seasonal products.

Artist Dorothy Fagan Featured at the Tuesday Market - July 6, 2010

Dorothy Fagan of Mathews will be the  featured artist with her paintings of “Earth, Sky & Water.” Pick up a prepared dinner, local seafood, Greek food, produce, Angus beef, cut flowers, daylilies and jams while shopping and dining in Merchants Square.

Independence Day and Market Anniversary Celebration to Include Chef Cook-off, Live Music and More

Members of the Virginia Chef's Association will gather at the Williamsburg Farmers Market in Merchants Square on Saturday morning, July 3, to celebrate our nation’s independence and the market’s eighth anniversary.

Beginning with the opening bell at 8 a.m. and continuing all morning, Renny Parziale and his fellow chefs will man the Chef’s Tent for a nonstop culinary extravaganza to showcase the market's wide variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, herbs and more.

Parziale will direct participating chefs who will each have 20 minutes to create a recipe from a mystery basket of foods selected that morning from the market vendors. The chefs invite market shoppers to stop by the tent to watch, ask questions and taste the results.

Music will be performed by Orion from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Complimentary anniversary cake will be served. Master Gardeners will be in attendance to answer flower gardening questions.
